Description
In creating a movie soundtrack, it is essential that the talent involved understand the movie intent, the story, and the role sound is to play. While defining “music moments” and “sound moments” are vital parts of this process, other design considerations are critical in forming the overall plan for realizing the vision for sound and for working with the sound team. This AES workshop will focus specifically on design considerations for 5.1/7.1 movies and immersive sound movies. Topics will include recording sound in the field, designing sound in the sound design suite, working with the composer, executing the design of the soundtrack on the mix stage, and how to do all of this within budget. Using examples from soundtracks they have designed, panelists will focus on the creative process and on designing the soundtrack, bringing the concept to fruition, working with various players, and solving problems particular to this process.
