Honoree Bio
Andy Rayner heads up the Nevion U.K. Technology Centre where he provides company-wide technical strategy and direction. Rayner is a frequent speaker at major broadcast technology events and conferences worldwide. He is a member of the Video Services Forum board of directors and is part of the AIMS TWG. He is an active participant in many standards forums and is currently a manager of the SMPTE U.K. Section. Before joining Nevion in 2010, Rayner was BT’s head of broadcast technology. In this position, he was responsible for the design of the BT Global IP Media Network – the world’s first traffic engineered MPLS media network. He also supervised and architectured the creation of key video interfacing, monitoring and protection technology. Rayner has filed many patents with both with BT and Nevion. He was awarded the prestigious Martlesham Gold Medal for technical innovation during his time with BT. Rayner received a technical Emmy for JPEG 2000 standardization work with Nevion.
