Honoree Bio
Mike Overton is a principal engineer at Telestream after their recent acquisition of the Tektronix video business. He joined Tektronix in 1983 and transferred to the video group in 1989. He has been a HW designer and project leader on a variety of products covering analog and serial digital interface (SDI) generation, MPEG monitoring, picture quality measurements, audio monitoring, SDI measurement and tracking, and circling back to GPS-based reference generation for analog, SDI and timing signals. For the past four years, Overton has focused on IP-based systems, encompassing both the PTP reference and ST 2110 essence aspects. Overton has been a member of the SMPTE standards community since 2007 and participated in the development of various SDI related documents. Most recently, he helped define and execute the SMPTE-sponsored interoperability tests for PTP, the programs tested by the Joint Task Force on Networked Media (JT-NM) and is the secretary for the ST 2059 standard one-year review process.
