The technical presentations in the SMPTE 2019 are intended to reflect SMPTE’s quest for technical excellence and that of Media and Entertainment’s (M&E) engineering community. They tend to provide very advanced, deep coverage of the technologies and topics selected for the program. To help provide a meaningful foundation and context for these excellent papers, SMPTE has organized a series of primers covering the fundamental concepts and reasons the presentation topics are important to M&E. The goal is to help event attendees better understand the presentations by providing focused foundational concepts. If you are early in your career, understand some of the topics, but not others, or even if you just want a refresh on the critical fundamental elements relating to the presentations later in the day, these primer sessions are not to be missed.
